Greetings Drummy Folks!
I was decompressing to a friend about the drumO's at the gathering and they said that I should send Ya'll my reflections.
O.K. To bring you up to speed with the email I am forwarding... I hold certification as a Reiki III Teacher/Student what many call "Reiki Master" in addition to holding the title of Reverend. With no personal income at the moment, I pray teaching Reiki full time, this is manifested somewheres out in the future if I trod in that direction up JAH lighted path. I've been praying it and doing research and am not yet really "working it" except to freely communicate, give free treatments, and offer to teach with exchange of energy spreading the use of Reiki supporting a more peaceful world. I think this is and I want it to be my "Ministry," JAH knows if this is to be the case and it seems to be a valid "way" for me in terms of my ethics. Viable as a living and a life? I don't know, most Reiki teachers have a day job and OTOH my needs are low. I do know I am open to guidance and things being effortless. So far, so good, sweet actually.
The Reiki Share I attend is at the Gainesville, FL, USA, Unity Church on NW 39th AVE next door north of the long white picket fence that is in front of the Montessori school. It officially runs from 7:00 ~ 9:30 PM, it depends on how many people need to receive treatment. When not receiving a treatment myself, I channel Reiki through my drums (at minimum West African inspired), Mbira, Balafon and Tibetan bells or whatever instrument seems appropriate at the time, twice a month (1st and 3rd Fridays @ 7PM ~ 10PM) at the Reiki Shares and have done for several years now as an outreach to those in need of healing and to provide support for my fellow Reiki practitioners.]

Interesting, surely my well wishes and thoughts were with you and I was playing in Live Oak at the Florida Regional Drum Circle and doing Reiki all the while. Consciously I didn't astrally project like in a formal meditation and that, so it is curious your experience. Of course I very rarely substitute an event for Reiki share, my heart is truly with you all, forever and I look forward to the next share on the third of December. Actually, I also broke another commitment this strong front (not a weak end by any stretch, high boltage, tho I am recharging my batteries today) in that I didn't host My monthly drumcircle out to the Kanapaha Veterans Park, Saturday, either.
It was so kule getting to hang out with an Internet friend of six years, Shorty Palmer, he was vending Drums and Percussion stuff at the event so he was easy to find and he was tied down from prowling about too much when I got there, Saturday's "day trip" (night trip, really - afternoon and evening both nights) from Gainesville as I didn't camp. I also got to meet and get to know his wife Sandy after all this time, she has a sweet disposition and was very kind and thoughtful, well educated and Reiki II. Her shoulder was bothering her, so I gave her Reiki at Shorty's request. I'd also run Reiki for another Internet drumming friend, Steve Alvarado, he has chronic tennis elbow (from side drumming big cylinder drums, he thinks) the day before. As you well know, I find myself reserved much of the time. The hands on experience with these "strangers" seemed to highlight the connection already present in an interesting way and I was able to intuit a huge amount about them including the depth and breadth of their character.
Shorty, bless his heart, gave me a device for holding rope securely when making drums called a clam cleat, he's got his bolted into a lever and fulcrum arrangement for pulling diamonds. After which though finances are an issue, I spared the 80$ expense of a correspondingly full 100$ spool of some nice drum rope, it's black with purple tracers. Because I worked the gate 6-9 PM on Friday, my total outlay was otherwise low, with the 15$ for petrol, less than a C-note for the weekend. For which I am thankful. It's likely that hundreds of feet of rope will inspire me to build up some drums, nothing like fine raw materials to do that.
The bands were really kule, all percussion heavy and excellent. Combined with a lovely psychedelic projection behind and off to the left, although I think it would have been better to do it like they do at the Scheck family reunion I attended recently where the screen is always above the stage. On the upside the display at the gathering was really kule in they had it hooked into a video camera somehow and would stylize the image of the band in almost real time, there being a slight lag at times longer. This image mixed with the flowing colors of the psychedelia was breathtaking. Then the Big O. With a lot more drummers and dancers (ahh... DAN-cerzzz... mmm momentously stunning I missed a beat here and there, well so did my heart) than Friday's O, the energy was stupendous. Where Friday's O drumming came in waves with some actual albeit brief periods of quiet (like a whole minute or so). So it was like they were songs because the groove had a very different vibe when restarted. Saturday was continuous, sinuously morphing as drummers picked up and put down the groove 'till I headed home at 4:30AM, that's as far as I know. There was a lowered volume for a space around midnight, I think, as most of the heavy hitters seemed to take a break at nearly the same time. It was even possible to carry on a conversation for a bit as things simmered. Then a bunch of folks picked up and it got really smokin' in the second set. Wae Kule, Yes I did have fun.
