Greetings all, First of all, thank all of you who shared drum circle ettiquette. Quite thorough, very nice summary. I would like to be explicit about one point which was inferred, that is: When everyone is taking a short break, or there is a pause for whatever reason, and then someone starts quietly drumming (or even not so quietly) - don't ignore them by cutting them off with more volume - play with them. Maybe they are someone just learning and actually need someone with more experience to encourage them and not snuff them out, or they may be someone with experience who doesn't really appreciate being cut off. That type of inconsiderate conduct is not conducive to "circle cohesion" or "good vibes". I've been both the inexperienced one and now the (somewhat) experienced drummer who have been subjected to this rudeness. I'm sure that every time it happens is not because someone is intentionally being rude, but, being aware of this can at the very least have this happen less often since after all, we are drummers so lets really listen to the rhythms around us. Again, thanks for the ettiquette (big smile)! Take care, Jeremy Disclaimer: **All posts have been reviewed for content by the Moderators of Djembe-L.
